First Coast No More Homeless Pets is sponsoring the first Summer 2013 Pet Adoption Event, June 7-9 at the Jacksonville Humane Society and Jacksonville Animal Care and Control. Come for the kitten graduation party. There will be 100-plus kittens available and kittens and cats are BOGO! Yep, two for one adoption fees. Plus, any dog over 3 years old can be adopted for free. All animals adoptions include free spay or neuter, vaccinations and microchips.
The all-free, all-fabulous Jacksonville Jazz Festival begins this Friday, May 24 and goes through Sunday, May 26, with live performances on multiple stages downtown, including sets by the Yellowjackets, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Trombone Shorty. The annual Mutt March Fun Walk and Festival benefitting the Jacksonville Humane Society will be held Saturday March 2 at The Landing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festival fun is free, although dog walkers must register to take pledges for the Humane Society. If you aren’t up to the 1.5-mile long walk, there’s also a less-taxing short walk of a quarter-mile. At the festival, you’ll have a chance to bid on silent auction items, play games, adopt pets, buy food and other products, plus play with all those tail-wagging dogs.
North Beach Bistro in Atlantic Beach is the place to celebrate Halloween Friday, October 27 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.. Chef Dave’s bar appetizers are $6 each and martinis are $5. Their will be other specials as well, plus a Halloween costume contest with cash prizes for winners.

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of The Jacksonville Landing with a free party Thursday, June 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The riverfront open house will offer entertainment, free hors d’oeuvres and discounts from Landing restaurants and retailers.
