buonaIt could have happened anywhere in the U.S.  But it happened in Boston, at one of the most beloved sporting events of the year.  The Boston Marathon bombing left everyone sickened, sad and on edge.  But the men and women of the Boston police (with help from state and federal agencies) stepped up and got the bad guys in less than a week.

As a special thank you, Jacksonville on the Cheap and all the Living on the Cheap network sites are sending free coffee to the Boston police.

Living on the Cheap is collecting a $1 from everyone who feels moved to contribute toward this cause. The money will be used to buy custom bags of fresh roasted beans (the Boston Strong blend) from Buona Caffe and send them to station houses all over Boston to fuel these officers’ days and nights. Each bag will have a special thank you message from our readers.

If you’d like to participate, click on the Living on the Cheap link for more info, or just send a dollar through PayPal to Living on the Cheap editor Julie Sturgeon at ceoeditor@ceoeditor.com .

On Thursday–which is National Coffee Day–you can get a free 12-ounce cup of House Blend coffee from your favorite Krispy Kreme counter or drive through.  No purchase necessary.  Of course, if the red light’s on, know that you’ll have a tough time driving away without a dozen hot traditional glazed.
