On May 1, Jacksonville celebrates the 450th anniverary of the landing of French Captain Jean Ribault at the mouth of the St. Johns River.  To commemorate the event, the city hosting French Week through May 6. For Living-On-the-Cheap fans, that means specials and discounts at a number of Jacksonville restaurants, plus a chance to see two French schooners, the Etoile and the Belle Poule. The ships will leave Mayport Naval Station April 30 and sail the St. Johns River to arrive at downtown Jacksonville at noon. The ships will remain docked in Jacksonville through May 2.

The annual event includes 29 participating restaurants, all of which will be offering three-course meals for a prix fixe of $19 or $29.  Beech Street Grill, The Ritz-Carlton Cafe, Brett’s Waterway and Le Clos are a few of the participants.  Restaurant Week runs through January 29
