The ASPCA and PetSmart-sponsored Mega-Match-a-Thon is going on March 30-April 1 with the goal of getting 250 homeless dogs and cats adopted. You can bring home your new best friend from any of three facilities–First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Jacksonville Animal Care and Control, and the Jacksonville Humane Society–for an adoption fee of $25 during the event. Pets come spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you’ve been thinking of adding to the family, this is a great time to do it.
The Fernandina Farmer’s market offers good prices on in-season produce, plus herb plants and a variety of handcrafted prepared foods. The market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centre and 7th Streets in downtown Fernandina. If you can’t make it to Amelia Island, ramble over to Neptune Beach for the Beaches Green Market in Jarboe Park, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
