Indulge your taste buds and your spirit at Clara’s at the Cathedral.  For $10 you can eat all you want from an abundant, beautiful buffet, listen to live music and help the Clara White Mission culinary program.  The fab feast is only available on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when the culinary school sets up shop at St. John’s Cathedral’s Taliaferro Hall on Church Street downtown.  Oh, and did we mention that Clara’s offers take-out?  The April 1 menu includes tomato bisque, Parmesan-crusted pollack, a cheeseburger bar and pecan pie bars, among many other things.

Sample Chateau Croix Mouton and Chateau Marjosse White for free on Friday, April 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at ABC Fine Wines & Spirits locations in Jacksonville,  Atlantic Beach and Fernandina Beach.  If you can’t make it Friday, another round of sampling–this time Alliance Red and Alliance White–will take place Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.  Oh, and no need to spit!

Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate! has Mickey and Minnie celebrating a Very Merry Unbirthday Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter; Mardi Gras with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen; a Royal Valentine’s Day Ball with the Disney Princesses; a Hawaiian luau with Lilo & Stitch; a winter wonderland with Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear; a Halloween haunt with the Disney Villains and more in the celebration of the century.

The show runs April 7-10 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Ticket prices start at $15.

We are giving away a pack of four tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show Friday, April 8, and a pack of four tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show Saturday, April 9.

Here’s how to enter the contest:

  1. Subscribe to our daily e-mail update from Jacksonville on the Cheap. If you already subscribe, proceed to step 2.
  2. Send an email with your name, postal mail address and the e-mail address with which you subscribe to On the Cheap to info@jacksonvilleonthecheap.com. ENTRIES WITHOUT MAILING ADDRESSES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. We don’t sell or even save these addresses but use them to verify eligibility.
  3. Put DISNEY ON ICE JAX in the subject line. Entries without the correct subject line will not end up in the contest mailbox.
  4. Deadline to enter is midnight Eastern time Sunday, April 3.

The drawing will be conducted and winners will be notified Monday, April 4. Winners will pick up their tickets at WILL CALL at the venue and will need photo ID.

Contestants must be 18 or older. One entry per household. Winners must be residents of Northeast Florida.

The Clay County Fair line-up of concerts includes John Anderson, Megan McGovern, DeWayne Spaw and Randy Houser. Oh, and there’s also Southern Madness Lawnmower Racing.  The entertainment is all free with standard fair admission.

Plus, you can get an early-bird discount when you buy your Clay County Fair tickets in advance.  Fair tickets sell for $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children during the run of the March 31 to April 9 event. However, if you buy early, you can get tickets at $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and children.  If you’re taking a crowd or going multiple nights, those savings could add up.  Also, don’t forget that Thursday, March 31 is Dollar Day at the fair, with all rides going for $1 a ticket.  Of course, once you’re in, you browse and eat funnel cake until you drop.  Tickets can be purchased at the fair office in Green Cove Springs and other sites around Clay County.  Check the website for details.
